Essential Travel Tips
Getting There
Most visitors fly into Islamabad (ISB) and drive to Muzaffarabad (~2.5 hrs). For upper Neelum, a 4×4 jeep is strongly recommended. Roads can close in winter.
Connectivity
Mobile network coverage is available in main towns. Upper Neelum and trekking areas may have no signal. Download offline maps before you go.
Permits & NOC
Some areas near the Line of Control require a No Objection Certificate (NOC). Check with local authorities before travelling to Taobat, Kel, and border areas.
Pack Right
Even in summer, high-altitude areas drop near freezing at night. Pack warm layers and windproof outer layers for lakes above 3,000m.
